2026 James Graduates With A Masters Degree
James had two graduations he was in this day. The first was at 9am and was for a Non Profit Certificate at Wayne State. The second was at 5pm for his Masters Degree at the Mike Ilitch School of Business.
The second ceremony ran a little late but we still made it to Bubba’s for dinner (James favorite restaurant). Later James got his graduation gifts and everyone had a great time.
Reminder, if anyone goes to one of these graduations, purses are basically not allowed over a certain size and we had to go back to the car and store it there.

2026 Tiger Game and Fireworks
It was a rainy day but an exciting game as the Tigers came back from a 4-0 deficit to tie, but the bullpen gave up the winning run.
The biggest roar from the crowd came when they flashed the Pistons had just taken the lead on the Orlando Magic after being down by over 20.
After the game, their was a great fireworks show which looked great with the new skyscraper in the background.
Thanks to Nick and his Mom for the great seats, right above the Tigers dugout.

2026 Valentines Day
Big surprise when the family woke up to a Valentines Day decorated kitchen table. Plenty of everything for everyone and we ended up snacking on candy for two weeks.
Not all the gifts were candy and flowers, if you zoom in on the picture you will see some Phantom of the Opera gifts (see previous post) including the sequel to the original musical which takes place in New York at Coney Island, or should I say, under Coney Island.
Weather in Michigan in February is kind of rough so we did not have any road trips this time, but we did enjoy the Phantom sequel.

Detroit Opera House Phantom and Super Bowl 2026
We bought tickets for the Phantom at the Detroit Opera House way back in September so we had pretty good seats for the sold out event. You never want to sit too close as you can miss some things with the Phantom the the candles in the floor and the chandelier, however you do get the orchestra pit which is cool.
The whole family enjoyed the show and I noticed some things had changed since the last time I saw the show – the chandelier was completely different and the rear projections for thunder and lightning. The last time we saw the Phantom was at the Masonic Temple and Dad has seen the Phantom also in Toronto, New York, and Vegas.
After the show we went to Bubbas 33 for a great movie and finally home to watch the superbowl. Despite the superbowl being a lousy game, it was a great day on a cold February day. Continue reading “Detroit Opera House Phantom and Super Bowl 2026” →
New Years 2026
Wow, another year has gone by and it was a good one. James did his usual work for the countdown and I cannot imagine being anywhere else on New Years than here.
The entertainment was good on TV as well, and we stayed up pretty late on this one. The neighbors down the street put on their fireworks display and we had a great time enjoying it, although it was a little on the chilly side to stand outside for too very long.
We wish everyone a very safe and prosperous New Year in 2026

Christmas 2025
Another Christmas has arrived and while we were hoping for a White Christmas, it wasn’t to be but it was still a most wonderful day for the family.
All the gifts were opened before 9am and it was an awesome day.
However there was a grinch who showed up as the Lions lost to the Vikings (second time this year) 23-10. Who would schedule a football game on Christmas as half the viewing audience is going to be bummed and this year it was us. No more Lion games on Christmas please.
